Monsanto's GMO Corn Linked To Organ Failure, Study Reveals

In a study released by the International Journal of Biological Sciences, analyzing the effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health, researchers found that agricultural giant Monsanto's GM corn is linked to organ damage in rats.

According to the study, which was summarized by Rady Ananda at Food Freedom, "Three varieties of Monsanto's GM corn - Mon 863, insecticide-producing Mon 810, and Roundup® herbicide-absorbing NK 603 - were approved for consumption by US, European and several other national food safety authorities."

Monsanto gathered its own crude statistical data after conducting a 90-day study, even though chronic problems can rarely be found after 90 days, and concluded that the corn was safe for consumption. The stamp of approval may have been premature, however.

In the conclusion of the IJBS study, researchers wrote:

"Effects were mostly concentrated in kidney and liver function, the two major diet detoxification organs, but in detail differed with each GM type. In addition, some effects on heart, adrenal, spleen and blood cells were also frequently noted. As there normally exists sex differences in liver and kidney metabolism, the highly statistically significant disturbances in the function of these organs, seen between male and female rats, cannot be dismissed as biologically insignificant as has been proposed by others. We therefore conclude that our data strongly suggests that these GM maize varieties induce a state of hepatorenal toxicity....These substances have never before been an integral part of the human or animal diet and therefore their health consequences for those who consume them, especially over long time periods are currently unknown."

Monsanto has immediately responded to the study, stating that the research is "based on faulty analytical methods and reasoning and do not call into question the safety findings for these products."

The IJBS study's author Gilles-Eric Séralini responded to the Monsanto statement on the blog, Food Freedom, "Our study contradicts Monsanto conclusions because Monsanto systematically neglects significant health effects in mammals that are different in males and females eating GMOs, or not proportional to the dose. This is a very serious mistake, dramatic for public health. This is the major conclusion revealed by our work, the only careful reanalysis of Monsanto crude statistical data."

(NaturalNews) Back in October, the Pinellas County, Fla., Commission voted 4 – 3 to stop adding artificial fluoride chemicals to the county’s municipal water supply, which serves roughly 700,000 residents (http://www.naturalnews.com/033801_f…). But now local health officials are suggesting that the county purchase a mobile fluoride van as an alternative, which would drive around town and administer fluoride and other conventional dental services directly to children.
Believe it or not, the St. Petersburg Timesreports that the Pinellas County Commission will soon vote on whether or not to purchase this mobile fluoride van for $532,339 in taxpayer funds, which is more than twice the $205,000 a year the county has been spending to purchase fluoride chemicals for the water supply. The Commission had asked the county’s Health and Human Services department to come up with a new way to use the $205,000 for other dental purposes, and the mobile fluoride van was their proposal.
“There’s no way I’m going to support a $532,000 item,” said Commissioner John Morroni, who was one of the members who voted in favor of ending water fluoridation. “You can buy a lot of toothpaste and help the dentists disburse it.”
Morroni is right, of course — if the county is persistent in making sure as many children as possible are fluoridated, there are much less expensive ways to distribute it than to purchase a half-million-dollar van. But the van’s proponents say it is the “most efficient option” for making sure children do not escape getting their fluoride.
Never has it been proven that consuming fluoride in any way helps improve teeth, though, despite what health officials claim. And adding fluoride chemicals to water, which is their preferred method, is a very poor method of delivery even if the chemical did help teeth. This is because 99 percent or more of flouride ends up on lawns or flowing down the drain, rather than actually being ingested.
There is also no way to regulate the ingestion of the so-called “optimum” level of fluoride because individuals drink varying amounts of fluoridated water, and are also exposed to it in unknown amounts through their skin whenever they wash their hands or take a shower. In other words, water fluoridation is one of the most unscientific, unsubstantiated, and ridiculous “public health” schemes to ever be devised, and it is nothing more than forced medication of the masses.

Chemicals, Chemicals, Chemicals...........

Argghhh......toxic chemicals. They have made it into our toothpaste, our moisturizers and our make-up. We are ingesting and applying these things to our skin, the second most absorbent surface in our bodies!! Fluoride is a dangerous industrial by product and can result in skeletal fluoridosis, ADHD and learning disabilities............to name just a few. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate causes things to foam, but is also very toxic. Carmine is in our lipstick and chap sticks and is literally "beetle juice". There is guanine in our mascara!! Guanine can be found in seabird guano as well as bat guano. Yuck! Now that gives me the creeps. I feel like I've walked into a horror movie in my bathroom. What to do?

Shouldn't we look for better alternatives if we are concerned about our health? What if they saved us money too?  That would be a plus!

Well, I am trying to do just that. I stumbled upon these recipes and thought you might like to try them too.

Homemade Toothpaste Recipe

1/4 cup baking soda

1/4 cup vegetable glycerin
1 Tbsp castile liquid soap
A few drops peppermint, anise, wintergreen essential oil, optional
dash of stevia or  xylitol

Mix well! (make sure your essential oils are the kind that are safe to ingest)

Natural Homemade Mascara

• 1/8 tsp. Activated Charcoal (about 1/2 capsule)
• 1/8 tsp. Aloe Vera Gel

Mix together aloe and charcoal. Then, dip in a clean mascara brush wand, pressing it against the inside of the bowl to coat it evenly onto the wand, smoothing out any clumps. Apply to eyelashes as usual. Wait a few seconds before blinking, to let the mascara dry, so that it doesn’t get on your cheeks

And this moisturizer from my sister in law:

Grammy's Body Buddy Balm

Approximately 1 part of each

Coconut oil

Shea butter
grape seed oil
beeswax

Gently warm them in a double boiler just until like the beeswax is melted. Cool and put in container.
